Theological Significance

Love is central to God's revelation of Himself, yet it must be understood in harmony with holiness, truth, and justice. Scripture especially displays divine love in election, covenant faithfulness, and the giving of the Son.

Common Misunderstanding(s)

Biblical love is not sentimental approval of all desires. God's love is holy, truthful, and sacrificial, not indifferent to sin.

Practical Application

God's love gives security, motivates obedience, and becomes the pattern for sacrificial love toward neighbor and fellow believer.
