To affirm the full authority and sufficiency of Christ while encouraging believers to live in light of their new identity.

Historical & Biblical Context

Paul wrote Colossians during his imprisonment to believers in the city of Colossae. Reports had reached him that certain teachings were influencing the church, blending elements of philosophy, spiritual speculation, and religious practices that threatened to distract believers from the centrality of Christ. In response, Paul presents a powerful description of Christ’s authority over creation, redemption, and the church. By emphasizing who Christ is and what He has accomplished, Paul shows that believers do not need additional systems of spiritual knowledge or ritual to experience fullness in their relationship with God. The letter then moves from theology to practical instruction, describing how new life in Christ reshapes relationships, attitudes, and daily conduct. Within the New Testament, Colossians stands as one of the clearest affirmations of Christ’s supremacy.

Guided Study Path

If you're not sure where to begin, this pathway breaks the book into study units that can be carefully observed and meditated on in one sitting, though they don't have to be. Study 1, for example, can take several days, while Study 2 may be only one day. It's intentionally not broken into timed units, so that you can move at your own pace and spend time with each passage.
